People tend to store tension in their bodies. One way to reduce this is to use progressive muscle relaxation or stretching. In addition, it’s useful to become better at being able to notice what’s happening within your body so that you can notice where tension is and do something about it. Also, becoming better at noticing what is happening in your body means that you will get better at identifying your feelings and managing them.

Many people ‘live in their heads’ and are not that aware of what’s happening in their bodies, or even what they are feeling. Doing a body scan regularly will help teach you to become better at being aware of what is happening within your body. The 15-minute video below takes you through a body scan.
